14 DAY GORILLA SAFARI

DAY ONE:

Arrive at Entebbe international Airport, met by our guide and transferred to Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for overnight.

 

DAY TWO:

After breakfast Drive to Murchison Falls National Park; Lunch in Masindi then continue to the park, pass by the top of the falls overnight Nile safari lodge or Paraa lodge or Sambiya River lodge or Red chilli rest camp.

 

DAY THREE:

Morning game drive; Here may have a chance to see the Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Hartebeests, Oribis, Buffaloes, Elephants to mention but a few. Afternoon we take a cruise to the bottom of the falls, a magical trip through some beautiful scenery. The whole of the 50 meters wide Nile River is forced into a gap only 7 meters wide – the immense force of the water and the views of the falls are awe inspiring here we maybe lucky to see Crocodiles, schools of Hippos, we may also see animals as they come to the river to quench their thirst, the chances here we have are for Giraffes, Elephants, Cape buffaloes and some times Lions as they come to ambush prey, overnight Nile safari lodge or Paraa lodge or Sambiya River lodge or Red chilli rest camp.

 

DAY FOUR:

On this day we will drive southward down the western edge of Uganda, through winding agricultural lands, where villagers and their children show their friendly nature and wave out and you may glimpse the Ugandan way of rural life. We will enter the crater-lake region located underneath the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains. Overnight either Ndali lodge or Primate lodge or Nature lodge or chimps nest, we may also stay in Fort portal in Mountains of the moon or Tooro resort depending on the budget.

 

DAY FIVE:

After an early morning breakfast, drive to Kibaale NP reported to be home to the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in the world. Thirteen (13) different species have been identified here. We shall go for Chimp tracking where we have a chance to see a variety of other primates like. the Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Vervet, L'Hoerst and Red tailed Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Red, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, afternoon swamp walk in Bigodi wetland for a variety of primates we may have missed in the forest. Overnight either Ndali lodge or Primate lodge or Nature lodge or chimps nest, we may also stay in Fort portal in Mountains of the moon or Tooro resort depending on the budget.

 

DAY SIX:

Morning transfer to Semliki NP, arrive for a nature walk along the hot springs where we may have a chance to see a some species of primates, the hot springs, if desired we may visit the pygmy in their new settlement at Ntandi then drive to the wildlife reserve arriving for a game drive where is lucky we may see the Leopard, Forest Elephants and some other game overnight Semiliki safari lodge. (here if we are to go to the reserve there are no budget options)

 

DAY SEVEN:

Morning game drive then transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP, we have a chance for the view the Rwenzori Mountains from short range. Overnight Mweya safari lodge or Jacana or Katara lodge or Hippo pool or at the institute of ecology guest house depending on the budget.

 

DAY EIGHT:

Morning game drive through Kasenyi tracks and Kob mating grounds in search for lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Hyena, Giant Forest Hogs, and other game. There after we shall go for an afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga Channel believed to host the largest concentration of Hippos in Africa, a variety of migrant birds, we may have a chance to see a variety of other animals as they come to the channel for water. Overnight Mweya safari lodge or Jacana or Katara lodge or Hippo pool or at the institute of ecology guest house depending on the budget.

 

DAY NINE:

After breakfast transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha Sector of the park this area is famous for tree-climbing lions and driving below the huge fig trees is an experience you will never forget, as you may find the lions lying in the upper branches. After the game drive continue to Bwindi. Overnight Gorilla forest camp/Gorilla resort/Buhoma lodge/Engagi lodge/Trekker's tavern cottages all depending on the budget.

 

DAY TEN:

After breakfast and briefing by experienced park rangers and with a picnic lunch, embark on a trek in search for the Mountain gorillas. These massive primates are extremely rare believed to be only 700 remaining. The tracking starts at the area where the gorillas spent the previous day. The thrill of spending time with and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure that will leave us with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as the little ones play and interact. We will have a full hour with the gorillas then return to our accommodation for overnight. Tracking takes between 30 minutes and 8 hours depending on where the gorillas are found on that day. Overnight Gorilla forest camp/Gorilla resort/Buhoma lodge/Engagi lodge/Trekker's tavern cottages all depending on the budget.

 

DAY ELEVEN:

Transfer to Kisoro, arrive for a village walk, we shall visit the local people and may have some entertainment from them overnight Traveler's rest/Tourist hotel Kisoro.

 

DAY TWELVE:

Whole day hiking Mt Muhabura (4127 m), "the guide" we shall take approximately 8 hours round trip to cover the12 kms, we shall pass a rocky surface covered by grass and small shrubs and once on top you will be rewarded with the view of other Virunga volcanoes, L. Edward in Queen Elizabeth NP, Bwindi and peaks of Mt. Rwenzori, (Incase you wish to hike another volcano we may change to the one you prefer most i.e. Mt Gahinga (3474 m) A hike which takes you about six hours round trip, goes through a good example of a pure bamboo forest. Gahinga once had a crater on top but time has changes into a lush swamp. The distance to the swamp is 8 kms. Sabinyo (3669 m) This offers 3 challenging peaks to climb. A climb up the mountain takes one up a ridge along the Eastern side of the climb to peak one. If you're to continue, the climb to peak two involves walking a ridge with breath-taking drops into gorges of Rwanda and Uganda. Finally the hike up to peak three is steep with several ladders and mush scrambling. You are guaranteed to make your hands dirty enroute to peak three! Once on top you will be in Rwanda, Democratic republic of Congo and Uganda at the same time. The journey takes about 8 hours round trip to cover the 14 km stretch. Overnight Traveler's rest/Tourist Hotel Kisoro.

 

DAY THIRTEEN:

Transfer to L. Mburo NP through Kigezi highlands arrive for a game drive as you enter the park where we may have a chance to see the zebra, Impala, Topis, if lucky we may see the Eland and leopard and some other animals. Overnight Mihingo lodge or Mantana tented camp or Rwonyo camp depending on your budget.

 

DAY FOURTEEN:

Morning game drive as you drive out of the park in search for what we may have missed the previous day; transfer to the airport for your flight, end of services.

 

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Our package prices include accommodation and meals, Park entrance fees in all game parks and protected areas mentioned in the itinerary, vehicle hire with fuel and driver guide, boat rides in Murchison falls, Queen Elizabeth, chimpanzee tracking permits, ferry crossing in Murchison Falls NP, Guided nature walks and Ranger guide fees where necessary.

 

Gorilla permits are at US$600 per person per day.

 

These are booked in advance for they are sold on first come first serve basis and only confirmed with cash. Children below 15 years are not allowed to track chimps and gorillas

 

Our package prices do not include tips, drinks, personal insurance and anything of personal nature e.g. laundry, communication e.t.c.
